In terms of durability, the lifespan of a macerator pump depends on how much it's used. More recent macerator pumps can last up to 15 years when used sparingly, while those used regularly may need replacing after 10 years. A macerator used daily – in your home, for example – should last for around 10 years.

The primary advantage of a macerating system? It can be installed on top of any finished floor in the home. This allows you to place a new bathroom wherever it is most convenient. Whatever the placement, it can be accomplished without the need for costly excavation of the floor to install a drain line.

It's true, handling and dumping waste from your RV can be a smelly, messy job, especially when using the standing 3″ sewer hose or “stinky slinky.” A macerator can alleviate some of those concerns. Because of the smaller diameter hose, there is less smell permeating the air around your RV as waste is disposed of.

There are a number of reasons for this happening. The macerator has a foreign object inside the pump, restricting the waste water discharge, water can then leak out of the air vent on the top of the unit. The Macerator has never been cleaned and has just built up raw sewage.
