Per AFI 36-3208, paragraph 5.32, Airmen are subject to discharge under this provision if they are in a program of treatment for alcohol abuse and fail to successfully complete the program due to: inability, refusal to participate in the program, or unwillingness to cooperate.

AFI 36-3203 states that “An OGD resulting in retirement in a lower grade is not punishment. It is an administrative action required by law that determines the highest grade in which an officer served satisfactorily.” While it is not be punishment, a reduction in rank will result in a substantial loss of pay.

There may be conservative ornamentation on nonprescription sunglasses or eyeglasses. Frames may be black or brown material; gold or silver wire; and have a small same-color logo on the frame or lens. Conservative, clear, slightly-tinted, or photosensitive lenses are authorized.

Honorable Discharge: According to AFI 36- 3209, para A2. 2.1., it is granted in cases where the Airman's service generally has met Air Force standards of acceptable conduct and performance of duty or when the Airman's service is otherwise so meritorious that any other characterization would be inappropriate.
