What is happening with eLife?
On January 31 2023, we launched our new model for publishing, combining the speed and transparency of preprints with the expert scrutiny and evaluation of peer review. We committed to publish everything that we reviewed. We would publish preprints together with public reviews and assessments.
Is eLife Sciences peer-reviewed?
In the new model, authors still receive a high-quality peer-reviewed eLife publication. However, it's different in two key ways. Firstly, all papers that are invited for review are published on the eLife website as a Reviewed Preprint, giving readers an earlier view of the reviews and editor's assessment.
What is a reviewed preprint?
A Reviewed Preprint is… It is citable, shareable and has a persistent DOI that relates versions of the preprint. The public reviews and eLife assessment help readers quickly assess the significance of the findings as well as strengths and limitations of the evidence.
