Get the coordinates of a place On your computer, open Google Maps. Right-click the place or area on the map. This will open a pop-up window. You can find your latitude and longitude in decimal format at the top.

Settings and privacy. Under “Location settings,” check that it says “Location is on.” If it doesn't, tap Location is off and turn on Location. Under “Location settings,” check that it says “Location History is on.” If it doesn't, tap Location History is off and turn on Location History.

On your computer, open Google Maps. Type an address or name of a place. To filter your search results, use the drop-down menus below the search box.

In the search bar, enter a destination or tap it on the map. Follow the on-screen instructions to help Maps find your location. Tip: Point your phone camera at buildings and signs across the street, instead of trees and people. Once Maps knows where you are, you'll get directions through the camera view on your screen.
