The serial number of your Yamaha clarinet consists of five or six digits. The first two digits indicate the year of manufacture, while the remaining digits indicate the production number. For example, 012345 means that your clarinet was made in 2001 and was the 2345th clarinet produced that year.

Here are some tips on how to locate the model and serial number on different types of Yamaha clarinets. These models have the model number stamped on the upper joint, near the top. The serial number is stamped on the reverse side at the bottom of the lower joint.

The body is polished using Yamaha original oil in order to preserve the natural sound quality of the grenadilla and the texture of the wood, and to protect against cracks in the body due to the effects of moisture. After the surface has been treated, it is wiped clean of any excess oil.

On the clarinet, serial numbers appear on the back of the body of the instrument, on either side of the socket rings where the upper joint meets the lower joint, or close to the bell.
